Through a few of thosereal quick we built some clean waterwells in Malawi four of them to be exactfor about 1 200 people in severaldifferent villages there in Malawi wefunded an orphanage we helped build anorphanage in Honduras with our friendsfrom the hope effect we built anelementary school over in Laos whereRyan just was over there in the fall forthe grand opening of of that and thatwas amazing to see us be able tocontribute to 66 different kids and inin Laos and we also funded a high schoolfor a year and we helped some folks opena coffee shop in st Petersburg Floridaand really it wasn’t just a coffee shopthough the reason that was so appealingis yeah we’re passionate about coffeethat’s great but it was a community hubit was a beautiful space for creativepeople to come together and organize andhave discussions and make the communitya better place and so we found ways tocontribute we spent a year contributingand then this year which is 2016 ourmain focus has been about the thedocumentary that we just put out. It’s not aboutminimalismit’s how did you start your blog and soit just tells me that people like thedesign and the simple the simplicityof the template in the way that it looksso if you’re interested in and startingyour own blog you can go to theminimalists comm slash blog you can seeexactly how we did it step by stepthere’s even even a video there but yourfirst designing it I’d seen aplaceholder for a logo so I opened upapple pages and it’s like the equivalentof Microsoft Word maybe I will get Seanto bleep that it’s uh it’s you knowessentially our Apple’s word program andI opened it up and created thistemporary logo in 15 minutes just as aas a placeholder now I didn’t haveInDesign or Photoshop or any of thesethese apps that are required or I’msaying required with local quotes hereto to be a graphic designer right I hada lot of constraints all I have was thisword program and I made that quick logothat placeholder logo for 15 minuteswell that’s still the same logo we usetoday and the reason that it’s resonatedwith

Not asstressful but if it’s getting to a pointwhere it’s a net negative and that’swhere it was for me I just I deactivatedit and I’m still alivenow it’s funny because I’ve had severalbecause I didn’t like do the whole ranton Facebook like oh I’m deleting myaccount hey yo I just gave it the Irishgoodbye but it’s funny because like myfriend Fred I have friends and familiesthat like I had a friend reach out to metoday and he’s like dude did you blockme on Facebook or my sister did youblock me on Facebook of like no I justdeleted it like I would never you stolemy phone number like I wouldn’t wouldn’thide myself from you but so it kind offreaks some people out but at the end ofthe day like just I’m not saying to goand delete all your accounts cuz I knowyou said you use it for business andlike I don’t want to delete theminimalist Facebook account I think thatadds a ton of value but if there arepersonal accounts that are stressing youout I promise you you’re gonna feelbetter if you walk away from it then ifyou try to. And it’s really aboutit’s a financial independence retireearly yes that’s what it is there you goand and in that community is you knowmade up of a bunch of different types ofpeople who are interested in and nolonger letting money being the the thedriver of all the discontent in ourlivesyeah and they like some of those guys inthe community some of those guys andgals they will save upwards of 50percent of their of their income but seethey have different goals like drew whatare your goals man like the people inthe fire community they are trying toget financial dependence and retireearly as early as possible so drew ofthat to your goal then maybe you do giveup that office to save a little bit moreeach month but if your goal is to notrun you know just retire you know 55 65you know whenever whenever a normalretirement age is then then ya get getthe extra bedroom and create the perfectsituation for you to create and I thinkI think that’s that’s a really goodpoint because if our goal was to makemoney with this podcast
